Music and artists from both American hemispheres in tonight's concert from the Royal Albert Hall. The Prom opens with Dvorák's symphonic masterpiece 'From the New World' and in the second half there's Copland's iconic 'Fanfare for the Common Man' coupled with 'Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman' by Joan Tower. Works by Villa-Lobos and Ginastera add some attractive Latin-American colour. It's the first ever visit to the Proms by the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, together with the return of the distinguished Brazilian pianist Nelson Freire and conductor Marin Alsop.
